Obituary: James Terry Bullock


Oct. 18, 1935 - May 26, 2013

A fan of auto racing and avid golfer, James T. Bullock, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 26, 2013. His wife and youngest daughter were by his side.

He was born in Jamestown, NY on Oct. 18, 1935 to Marion and Clide Bullock. At age 21he ventured out to Southern California to make a new start on his own.

James retired from the Los Angeles Times after 30 years of faithful service and relocated to Carson City, NV, in 1993 with his wife Betty of 44 years. Once in Carson City, he worked part-time for Enterprise Car Rentals for ten years. He enjoyed spending time in the casinos, on the golf courses, going to stock car races, playing cards, dinner with friends, and family vacations in Mammoth, CA.

He was a loyal member of the Sunland - Tujunga Elks Lodge No. 2098 for nearly 40 years.

James leaves behind his wife, Betty Gail Bullock, of Carson City, NV; daughter, Linda R. Bullock of Lakewood, WA; daughter, Cindy Byrnes and her husband, Sean of La Crescenta, CA; daughter, Sherri Bullock of Carson City, NV; son, James T. Bullock Jr. of Lancaster, CA; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, cousins, in-laws, and friends all across the United States.

James is preceded in death by both parents, and beloved daughter, Marlene Cutting, formerly of Eagle Rock, CA.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Autumn Funerals and Cremations: 1575 N. Lompa Ln., Carson City, NV 89701: (775) 888-6800.
