A steam engine for Carson. A movement is on foot here toward the purchase of a steam fire engine for Ormsby County. The recent fire at Empire illustrated the fact only too plainly. One of the property owners has pledged 500 dollars to the purchase.

It simply amuses people in Nevada to see the New York Telegram seriously publishing Sen. Fair’s views on the conditions of the Comstock. It has been liberally discounted all over the Pacific Coast where his abhorrence of the truth known. His solid lying has become proverbial. He has literally been run out of Nevada and California by public opinion.

100 years ago

Parties visiting Lake Tahoe yesterday all received a trouncing as heavy hail and rain pelted them all, catching a number in boats and washing out a considerable portion of Kings Canyon. Clear Creek is in the same trouble. Both roads will be repaired as soon as possible.

An army program for elementary cross country flying will begin at the Minden Airport on Monday according to Henry von Berg, president of the Pathfinder Flying Service.

James Robertson, part owner of Carson Furniture, won a resounding victory with 1,133 votes over incumbent mayor A.A. Autrand to become Carson’s new mayor.

A gathering of antique fire equipment will mark the beginning of the celebration of 130 years of service to Carson City by volunteers of Warren Engine Company No. 1.
