Obituary: Robert E. Vickney Jr.


June 10, 1962 - July 14, 2013

Bob Vickney passed away on July 14, 2013 in Rocklin, CA. Bob was born in Las Vegas and grew up in Carson City, Nevada. Graduated from Carson High School in 1981 moved to California to pursue his education and play football. He attended Merced College 1981-1983. Chico State College 1983- 1987 earned his bachelor of Art in Physical Education.

Bob had a distinguished athletic career that included the following accomplishments:

·Played football as Middle linebacker in High School and College

·1983 named NCAC Defensive Player

·NCAC Conference champion in Shot Put in 1986 and selected to compete at the NCAA Division II National Championships. He ranked 18th in the nation going into competition, finished 10th in the nation.

·In 2009 inducted into Chico State College Hall of Fame also into Carson High School Hall of Fame.

Bob had a great career in the food packaging industry that he loved, and was very much a part of his everyday life.

Bob enjoyed coaching youth sports, riding his Harley, and meeting new friends (something he did almost every day of his life).

Bob is survived by his son, Kyle Vickney; siblings: Debra Vickney, Ronald Vickney, Sandra Nowling and brother-in-law, Jeff Nowling; nieces and nephews, Chelsey Nowling Rasner, Ronald Vickney Jr., Lindsey Vickney; great nephews, Marek and Nolan Rasner. “Other” brother, Robert E Vickney of MI and his wife, Jan and children, Jeanna, Travis and Garen.

His Aunt Betty Sturtz; his parents, Robert E Vickney Sr., Darlene Leathers, predeceased Bob. Stepchildren, Allison and Gordon Fowler step daughter-in-law, Katie; step grandson, Drew Candela.

Bob’s family were the most important people in his life, and he was one of the most loving generous people we have ever known. Bob touched so many people’s lives and the family appreciates all the friends who have reached out to help during this difficult time. We cannot begin to tell you how much our family and friends loved him miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held in his honor Saturday, Aug 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Adventure Christian Church, 6401 Stanford Ranch Road, Roseville, CA. Celebration of life to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Branch under Robert E. Vickney Memorial Fund or mail to PO Box 3551 Carson City, NV 89702. All donations will be used to help the Bob’s son, Kyle, for his future educational needs.
