Committee passes 6 judiciary bills

Six bills are on their way to the Nevada Senate floor by way of unanimous support in the committee stage.

The Senate Committee on the Judiciary passed the six bills Tuesday. Among the bills passed were two measures to refine the parole system and to allow a team investigating a domestic violence fatality to review certain records.

Democratic Las Vegas Sen. David Parks sponsored SB71 which aims to allow prisoners to aggregate their minimum sentences, thereby delaying parole hearings until they are eligible for release.

A similar bill from Parks stalled in the Assembly last session.

SB30 is a committee bill, and it adds a team investigating the death of domestic violence victims to a list of entities authorized to access criminal records.
