Obiturary: Violet G. Haberland

"Vi," passed away in Carson City one week before her 95th birthday on February 9, 2013. Vi was born to the late Louis and Frieda Cabus on February 16, 1918 in San Francisco, CA. She married Herman Haberland on February 10, 1936 and they moved from Walnut Creek, CA to Gardnerville, NV in 1948. She is predeceased by her husband, Herman; sister, Marge Woosley; granddaughter, April Schultz; and close friend Jack Samuelson. Vi worked for the Minden post office for 27 years and retired in 1978. She enjoyed traveling, singing, gardening, golf and playing cards.

Vi is survived by her sister, Lois Dewey of Dunsmuir, CA; her daughter Kathy Schultz (Norris) of Carson City, NV; three sons, Don of Cocoa, FL, Larry (Diana) of Sparks, NV, and Gary of Gardnerville, NV; granddaughter Roberta Gilreath (Larry) of Boone, NC; great grandson Larry "Butch" Gilreath (Tequila) of Boone, NC; great granddaughter Kathy Smith (Michael) of Deep Gap, NC; great great grandson Dillon Smith of Deep Gap, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and St. Mary's Hospice for making her last days as comfortable as possible. We are extremely grateful. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 429 Elm Street, Reno, NV 89503. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City. Walton's Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements.
