DA files open murder charge

The man accused of killing 19-year-old Desiree Bragg when he pinned her against a house with his vehicle is facing a murder charge.Carson City prosecutors filed an open murder with a deadly weapon charge against 28-year-old Carson City resident Leonardo Cardoza in the incident that occurred on Saturday.Bragg died Wednesday afternoon after being flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.“It still appears to be a very sad, horrific attack on that young lady,” Sheriff Ken Furlong said.Cardoza will be arraigned on the new charge today in Justice Court.Cardoza allegedly began tailgating Bragg and her fianc, Steven Castro, from Highway 50 for two miles, following them to her mother’s house. He then allegedly idled at the end of the driveway on Cinnabar Avenue until Bragg got out of her vehicle, and then drove into her.
