Carson woman arrested on felony burglary warrant

A Carson City woman was arrested on a felony burglary warrant during a traffic stop late Thursday.

According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office:

A deputy saw an eastbound vehicle make a U-turn without using its turn signal on U.S. Highway 50 East near Airport Road about 11:09 p.m. The deputy stopped the vehicle outside a casino, and passenger Katrina Balzer, 36, jumped out and tried to enter the casino. The deputy told her to stop, then talked with the driver and her.

The deputy learned that Balzer had burglary and contempt-of-court warrants, and the other woman’s alternative-sentencing officer advised that the driver had violated her alternative-sentencing agreement the previous night by having 0.07 percent blood-alcohol content. The officer asked that she be arrested.

At the Carson City Jail, a tin containing a straw that appeared to contain narcotics residue was found in the driver’s purse.

Balzer was arrested on the warrants, as well as on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail was set at $37,000. The driver was arrested on suspicion of violation of pretrial supervision and possession of drug paraphernalia. Total bail was set at $4,000.
