The fall of snow in the mountains is said to be very heavy. Quite early yesterday we heard that there had already fallen some four feet on the level at Marlett’s Mill. This would indicate at the summit some seven to eight feet, for where the peaks penetrate into the heart of the storm, they get the burden of the harvest.

Sebastian Beck, a German shoemaker, has returned to St. Louis after spending seven years among the savages. He says it started when he camped near Deadwood, was surrounded by the Sioux and captured, and he and his family were carried off. He saw his wife and children no more. He was near the Big Horn when Custer was massacred.

For some time, L.S. Whipple of Gold Hill has been assembling a flying machine of his own make and now has a model completed which will fly and carry a weight of 50 pounds (Enterprise).
