Obituary: Jan Rispin

Jan Rispin, 80 of Carson City, passed away at home November 22, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Born July 13, 1933 to Elvus King and Gladys Lutz in Petaluma, CA, Jan moved to Carson City in 1948 where she attended and graduated from Carson High School.


Jan owned and operated Jan’s Tropics, established in 1964, she moved to the current location in 1972. Her family will continue to operate the business. Jan was an avid bowler and served in numerous capacities with the leagues and competed in many local, state and national tournaments. Jan also enjoyed camping, racing, baking, entertaining, and attending Giants baseball games.


Jan is proceeded by her parents and her sister Ruth Gilbert of Petaluma, CA. She is survived by her

daughter, Suzanne and husband Tracy Huttman,

grandchildren Nicholas Huttman, Stephen and Yvonne (Huttman) Olson, great-grand daughter Kaitlyn, her brothers Jack King of Petaluma, CA, Harold Barrett of Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews.


A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 O’clock,

December 2, 2013, at the Calvary Chapel, 1635

Clearview Dr., Carson City. Her family requests

donations to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center or to Saint Mary’s Hospice of Northern Nevada in Jan’s name. Celebration coordinated by Autumn Funerals &

Cremations.
