Obituary: James Bilderback


Oct. 11, 1934 - July 29, 2013

James Fredrick Bilderback, age 78, of Carson City NV died on July 29, 2013 at a local nursing home, due to cancer. James (Jim) was born in Los Angeles, California on October 11, 1934 to Elisha John and Mercy Emma Bilderback, the eldest of eight children.

Jim graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 with an honorable discharge. From 1956-1964, he was married to his first wife, Margaret Lockwood, and they had three children: Teresa Lee, Lauri Ann and George Anthony. On December 27, 1968, Jim married his second wife, Florence (Vallem) Gold and they were married for 44 years until Jim’s death.

Jim was employed by Pacific Bell Telephone Co., General Telephone co. and as a Police Officer for Inglewood, California, after having served as a reserve officer in several Los Angeles area police departments. The love of his life was all about police work. He retired in 1982 and he and Florence moved to Hayward, Wisconsin where they owned and operated Hayward Lock and Key for over seven years. In 1994, they moved to Carson City, Nevada where they have lived for 19 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Frank Richard Bilderback, in 2011. He is survived by three sisters: Marianne, Edith and Joanne; three brothers: Robert, John and Christopher; his three children; two granddaughters; two grandsons, and one great grandson, plus numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
