A celebration of life memorial will be held for Layna Sue Edgmon of Carson City, Nevada, at 11am on August 11, 2012 at Freedom Church, 3579 Hwy 50 E, Sp 209 in Carson City. Layna was reunited with both her beloved earthly and heavenly Fathers on July 12, 2012. She was 56. In lieu of flowers, the family is respectfully requesting donations to help support funeral expenses. Donations can be sent to Eric Showen, 41 Condor Circle, Carson City, NV 89701.

Layna was born on January 20, 1956 in Altus, Oklahoma, to Farris J Lane "Jay" and Frances Geraldine "Jerry" Edgmon (now Jerry Nardin). Layna grew up in the heart of Silicon Valley and was a graduate of Lynbrook High School in San Jose, California. Although she held a number of jobs, Layna was primarily a homemaker for most of her life.

Layna loved the outdoors and always found solitude by a river or on the beach in Santa Cruz. She was very imaginative and loved to create artwork and drawings. Layna was a people person, and she treasured meeting new people, making new friends, and developing new relationships. Foremost in her mind was her unending love for her Lord and Savior, God the father, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. She spoke daily to Him and continually sought a deeper relationship with her God.

Layna is survived by her mother, Jerry Nardin of Westcliffe, Colorado; two sons, Jesse Showen of Portland, Oregon and Eric Showen of Carson City, Nevada; and a daughter, Leona Howlett of Eugene, Oregon. She is also survived by two sisters, Dayna Sheryl Lucia of Ben Lomond, California and Cindy Arevalo of Pueblo, Colorado; a brother, Greg Edgmon of Galt, California, and six grandchildren.
