Carson freshman teams win at State Farm tournament

RENO - The Carson High freshman boys basketball team topped Galena 46-29 in the opening round of the State Farm Tournament.

Cameron Price led the way with 20 points, while Erick Jacquez added nine and Brett Paulson five.

On the girls' side, Carson trampled Galena 34-18 thanks to 14 points by Michelle Perry and six by Abbey Dudley.

Carson is 7-1.

Carson JV girls win tourney debut

The Carson High JV girls beat Galena 44-12 in the first round of the State Farm Classic.

Carson led 19-2 and coasted from there thanks to a stifling press.

Gina Peacock led the team with 20 followed by Carli Bachmann with seven. Natali Salas added six.

Carson improves to 7-2. The Senators face Manogue today at 3:45 p.m.

Carson's JV boys team lost to Galena 46-24 at the State Farm Classic.

Carson was led by Alan Cohen, who scored eight points. Kyle Denning added five.

Dayton freshman girls lose

The Dayton freshman girls basketball team dropped a 59-35 decision to Hug in the State Farm tournament at Damonte Ranch today.

Judge explains Dodgers' ruling

WASHINGTON (AP) - A U.S. District Judge in Delaware says a bankruptcy judge erred in freeing the Los Angeles Dodgers from provisions of its current Fox Sports TV contract.

U.S. District Judge Leonard Stark released a 33-page ruling Tuesday explaining his reasoning after he issued an order last Friday to halt the Dodgers' plans to sell the media rights to future games.

Fox currently has the rights to produce, record and telecast Dodgers games through the 2013 season. The contract gives Fox certain rights in negotiating an extension, including the right to talk exclusively with the team in advance of competing offers. But a judge handling the team's bankruptcy proceedings ruled the "no-shop" provisions were unenforceable in bankruptcy.
