God is the same yesterday, today and forever

Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

What makes Jesus Christ different than any other person in the past, present, or future? He is not just another prophet, holy man, or great teacher. The Bible declares Him as God manifested in the flesh.

Matthew 1:23, "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."

John 1:1, "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God."

John 1:14, "And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

Three other Scriptures that confirm this are: Acts 20:28, "Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood."

Hebrews 13:12, "Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate."

Revelation 1:5, "... and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the Earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood."

The Scriptures tell us again in the Old Testament that God doesn't change. Malachi 3:6, "For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob."

What does it mean that Jesus Christ doesn't change, that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever? One thing it means to us is, He is constant in His attitude toward us. He doesn't have bad days. He is never in a bad mood. We don't have to check His temperature, so to speak, before we ask Him something.

Another benefit is we can be sure about His response and will. His word is never changing nor is His will. Remember that the word is commensurate with His person. There is no difference. He is the word and the word speaks of Him.

John 5:38-40, "But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life."

The person of the Lord Jesus Christ is the very essence of the written word. This is why the word is alive. The words you read in your Bible are simple a reflection of His character, purpose, and will.

May the Lord Jesus Christ reveal His wonderful goodness, will and purpose to you. Amen.
