Magnitude 4.6 earthquake reported near border

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit near the Californian-Nevada border southeast of Gardnerville at 6:02 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake was centered near an active fault line near Horseshoe bend on the east fork of the Carson River.

Residents reported feeling the quake as far away as Genoa.

No reports of damage have been received.
