Football: Douglas travels to Galena Thursday

The Douglas football team will wrap up the regular season Thursday night with a chance to clinch the No. 5 seed heading into the Northern 4A playoffs next week.

Douglas takes on Galena at 7:30 p.m. in South Reno. The Tigers come in riding a three-game win streak with a 4-4 record overall and 4-3 record in league play.

Galena is 1-7 on the year with its only win coming in a forfeit victory over Hug.

Douglas needs a win or for Spanish Springs and Reno to lose to Reed and Carson respectively to slide into the No. 5 spot.

Douglas has won the last five meetings against the Grizzlies, but the Tigers were challenged in Reno last year, having to come from behind for a 24-16 win.

Conner Peterson has run for 899 yards and nine touchdowns while Ryen Ake has run for 897 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Zack Williams has completed 55 passes for 662 yards and five touchdowns on the year.

Douglas leads the all-time series 8-2. Galena has never beaten the Tigers in Reno.
