Boys' Soccer: Carson runs past Douglas 4-1

After managing just two goals in its last three games, the Carson boys' soccer team was looking to boost its offensive production.

The Senators found their answer, scoring early and often in a 4-1 win over Douglas in Minden Wednesday afternoon.

"All week we've been working on our attack," Carson coach Eric Masters said. "We wanted to change some little things up and create more offensive options. We were able to do that very well today."

Carson got on the board almost right off the opening kickoff as Victor Romero chipped a shot just under the crossbar from five yards out in the second minute.

"That early goal helped a lot," Masters said. "Anytime you can score quickly, it gets everyone working harder and faster. I think that really boosted our ability to produce."

Carson extended the lead to 2-0 when Luiz Camacho scored in the 11th minute. Johnny Lopez added goals in the 37th and 39th minute to close out the scoring for the Senators while Johnny Lopez had a pair of assists on the afternoon.

Douglas was able to tack on a late goal when Kegan Rahe made a nice cross to Eric Kleiner, who slipped the ball inside the near post in the 73rd minute.

"Douglas is obviously an important game," Masters said. "The guys did a good job of getting everyone involved, creating good shots and getting a couple of them in the net.

"I felt they were able to step up their game and that is important heading into Saturday (against Spanish Springs)."
