Stateline's casino gambling win experienced a rare flattening between July and August, according to figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board on Friday.
Typically, July marks a high point during the year and August's gaming win drops off rapidly. This year the Stateline casinos took in $23.51 million in August, only slightly less than the $23.75 million they took in during July.
Compared to August 2009, the gaming win for Stateline, which brings in the majority of Douglas County's gaming taxes, was up 7.2 percent. Last year was more typical of Stateline summers where the decrease between July and August was down $5.3 million.
The gaming win in Carson Valley was also up compared to August 2009.
Casinos in Douglas County outside of Lake Tahoe and in Carson City combined for a 7.73 percent increase, bringing in $9.33 million during the month. So far the Valley gaming take is up 1.6 percent for the fiscal year starting on July 1. Stateline is showing a 3.88 percent decline compared to fiscal year 2009-10.
Statewide the total gaming win increased 11.51 percent compared to August 2009. The biggest increase was 21.09 percent for the Las Vegas Strip, which raked in $449 million, the largest amount for any reporting area in the state.
Washoe County posted a 3.11 percent decline in gaming revenue.
