Minden officials toured the construction site where the town is building a new storage tank that will be the crown in its efforts to serve the rest of Carson Valley and beyond. Work on the tank and the rest of the water system that will serve Indian Hills and Carson City is expected to be completed next spring.

Last year, the H1N1 flu was making headlines and people sick. According to Google flu trends, people searching for information about the flu peaked in mid-September and again toward the end of October. This year's following the more traditional trend where the flu stays low until the beginning of winter. The official start of flu season is Oct. 10.

By next Tuesday it will be about as cold during the day as it recently has been at night. According to the National Weather Service, our heat wave is about to come full stop, with high temperatures going from the upper 80s today to the 60s by Monday. There's a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms through the next several days.
