Sparks man arrested for DUI

A Sparks man was arrested 9:50 p.m. Wednesday after he allegedly sped past a patrol car on Highway 395 in Gardnerville.

Michael Dean Box, 26, failed a field sobriety test.

A preliminary breath test showed he had a .109 blood alcohol content. A background check revealed he had three other driving under the influence charges in the last seven years.

He was booked in lieu of $21,285.

Box said he hoped to make bail and then could confirm that he had an attorney.

East Fork Justice Steve McMorris set an Oct. 6 hearing date.
