Report: Man looked away from road

The man believed to be responsible for a four-car accident on Kimmerling east of Highway 88 was arrested for driving under the influence.

Gardnerville Ranchos resident Jarrod Allen Pounds, 25, told deputies investigating the accident that he looked down at his iPod and then hit the brakes when he saw someone braking in front of him.

He said he was going 45 mph when hit tried to stop. Deputies found 60 grams of marijuana and 2.6 grams of hash in his vehicle. Pound said he was uninjured in the crash, but deputies took him to Carson Valley Medical Center to be sure. A sample of his blood was taken into evidence.

A 42-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos woman was taken for treatment.
