More charges filed in burglary ring

One of the men accused in a vehicle burglary ring told deputies he and his partner would use Google maps to target gated communities.

Andrue Madden, 24, appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Friday where he was informed that multiple burglary charges had been filed against him.

East Fork Justice of the Peace Steve McMorris set a new hearing date for Madden to appear with his attorney Derrick Lopez on four counts of residential burglary, a count of burglary, a count of burglary with a deadly weapon and one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.

On Wednesday, Lopez asked McMorris for a two-week extension while he went through the more than 400 pages of legal documents in the case.

Authorities believe Madden was involved in hundreds of vehicle burglaries between May and July, with at least 20 vehicle burglaries and two residential burglaries in Johnson Lane and Genoa.

Madden told deputies he and his partner would enter the neighborhoods between midnight and 4 a.m. The pair would allegedly enter unlocked vehicles looking for electronics and other valuables, according to the documents in the East Fork Justice Court file.

The burglary with a deadly weapon charge stems from the theft of a shotgun and a handgun from a home on Kinsey Lane in Genoa.

Authorities believe Madden was involved in burglaries on Bridle Way, Voight Canyon, Cloud Burst, Pioneer Trail, and Wild Rye Court.

Madden was already being held on two burglary charges after he was extradited from Washington state.

He is being held in Douglas County jail in lieu of $110,000 bail.

There was a break in the case on July 8 when Christopher Allan Buttz, 18, was arrested in Sparks on a traffic stop.

According to documents filed in East Fork Justice Court, Buttz' arrest led to a July 14 raid on a home on Dori Way where hundreds of items reported stolen were found.

Bryan Allen Gaudette, 23, and Heather Olea, 22, were arrested at the Dori Way address.
