California couple arrested for marijuana transportation

Douglas County's drug interdiction team arrested a California couple after a deputy was able to smell the marijuana coming from their car.

Undersheriff Paul Howell said a deputy was conducting a traffic stop along Highway 395 near the rest stop in the Pine Nuts, when a vehicle containing Jennifer and Walker Frankenberg drove past.

The deputy detected the smell of marijuana coming from the couple's car and alerted an officer down the road who pulled them over after spotting a moving violation.

A drug dog alerted to the vehicle, but Walker Frankenberg, 32, refused to allow deputies to search the vehicle.

Howell said deputies obtained a search warrant and found an undisclosed amount of marijuana sufficient to justify possession of a controlled substance with intent to sale and trafficking charges.

Jennifer Frankenberg, 25, is being held in lieu of $ 35,500 bail. Walker Frankenberg is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
