Gardnerville resident Robert Ewart missing between here and Palmdale

Authorities are seeking help from the public to find an 80-year-old Gardnerville man who was last seen in late April leaving his son's home in Palmdale, Calif.

Robert Ian Ewart was reported missing by his son on Saturday. He left his son's home in a 2006 tan Ford Explorer, Nevada license plate 402UHH, and has not been seen or heard from since, according to Sgt. Jim Halsey of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Halsey said Ewart's son said it wasn't unusual to not hear from his father for two or three weeks at a time.

The missing man is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with a medium build, gray hair and green eyes. He sometimes wears wire-frame glasses.

He is reported to have minor dementia, but is otherwise in good physical and mental health.

Halsey asked that anyone with information about Ewart or his vehicle is asked to call Douglas County Sheriff's Office Investigator Jim Booth at 782-6299. Persons may also call the Secret Witness line at 782-7463.
