Two youth baseball players hurt in Carson Pass accident

Two Carson Valley Cougar baseball players were transported for medical attention in an accident that occurred about 100 yards east of Carson Pass on Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 2:05 p.m. when the driver of a white Expedition struck the rock embankment.

Four children age 12-14 were in the vehicle according to California Highway Patrol Spokesman Jeff Gartner.

Gartner said the investigating officer determined everyone was strapped into the vehicle.

One of the boys was helicoptered to Renown Medical Center in Reno for treatment. Another one was taken by El Dorado County Emergency Medical Services to Barton Memorial Hospital. Both boys complained of pain as a result of the accident. Both have been released from the hospital.

The other three passengers of the vehicle were not hurt. Gartner said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
