Gardnerville Marine promoted to corporal

U.S. Marine Cody Lamb was promoted to corporal May 3. A 2005 graduate of Douglas High School, Lamb completed Marine Corps boot camp in March 2009.

He graduated from Naval Aviation Air Crewman Candidate School at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., in August 2009 as a Lance corporal.

He was one of the first seven-member crew chief classes to be trained on the new UH-1Y Venom Huey helicopter at Camp Pendleton, Calif., with Marine Training Squadron 303.

Lamb received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal on Feb. 12 for responding and assisting at the scene of a fatal traffic accident and applying first aid to survivors.

He graduated from crew chief school and was assigned to a helicopter in April.

Lamb is the son and stepson of Shannon and Jimmy Crabtree of Gardnerville.
