I will pay a $3.00 reward for information that will lead to the whereabouts of Doctor Southworth. He was last seen in Bodie about four years ago, when he pulled a tooth for me. Incidentally, he also pulled my leg and a large section out of my jaw. When I came to, his office door was open and a trail of blood led out through it and down the canyon. A five minute interview alone with the doctor out back of the barn will answer my purpose beautifully. Should he volunteer to present himself for the interview, the reward will be paid to his heirs. C.D. Ware.

In an average group of 200 Americans in 1915 five children were being born each year. In that same average group in 1928 less than four children were being born, according to figures released by the department of interior. The result, says the office of education, of the department of the interior, now is being felt in the schools. Actual decreases in the number of children in the lower grades in communities that are increasing in population are being shown.

Photo caption. Douglas County's new ambulance is pictured in Minden, being driven by Don Hellwinkel in the Carson Valley Days parade. Riding with Don is Archie Safley. The ambulance was officially put into action at the parade. Volunteer drivers report the ambulance has yet to be called into emergency service, and that although no one looks forward to being called to the ice-breaking trip, volunteers on standby are ready to put the vehicle into service on a moment's notice.

Some familiar faces will be on hand for Sharkey's 12th annual Cow Pasture Boxing Festival on July 5. Five professional bouts have been lined up for the Friday night card, featuring a pair of co-main events at Gardnerville Park. All of the main event fighters have made previous Cow Pasture appearances. Nicky Walker made short work of Jimmy Cook in 1983, while Perry Levoe fought in Gardnerville as an amateur. John Ellis fought as a headliner in 1981 and '82, and Inoke Katoa stopped Larry Ware last year.

East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts Chief Tod Carlini will soon have a new address to match his new title. Carlini, 42, was picked Thursday to head the districts, succeeding Jim Reinhardt, who retired in May. The Douglas County Commission, which also acts as the governing board for the districts, unanimously selected Carlini, an East Fork deputy chief, over James Wilson, a deputy fire chief with the Mariposa County, Calif., fire department.
