The R-C Morning Report

Nearly half of the votes cast in Douglas County's first nonpresidential primary race came in before Election Day. According to the final results, 6,078 people voted on Tuesday, compared to 4,315 early voters and 1,319 absentee voters. Turnout was directly proportional to the urgency of the races on the ballot, with 58.6 percent of Republicans voting, but only 10.10 percent of nonpartisan and minor-party voters coming to the polls.

Mono County's Sheriff Richard Scholl appears to have retained his office. Provisional ballots haven't been counted, yet, but Scholl leads challenger Doug Northington 2,142-1,124 votes. Tim Hansen appears to have won the District 4 Supervisor race by 16 votes, which sounds close, but that's a 7 percent lead in Mono County.

I have no idea what happened with either Sierra Crest or SpringBoard at the Douglas County School Board last night. But I do know they were still hashing it out at 8:30 p.m. We'll get a notice up when reporter Scott Neuffer comes in this morning.

It was windy last night, and it'll be windier today, according to an advisory issued by the National Weather Service. West winds are expected 20-35 mph with gusts of 50-55 mph between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. today. Be careful in high profile vehicles traveling on Highway 395 and Highway 88 in Carson Valley.
