Stick with Thran

EDITOR:

Ted Thran was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners in 2008 to complete the term of Barbara Griffin, the clerk-treasurer of Douglas County. Now, to stay in office he must run for election as a candidate in the forthcoming three way race in the Republican primary.

Before his appointment to this office, this quiet, unassuming man served, since 1999, in the Douglas County Treasurer's Office. He is a certified public accountant and from all the sources I am familiar with he is very competent, professional and experienced in matters for which his office is responsible. So, my question is: why would anybody want to vote him out of office? What this office doesn't need is the flash and pomp of a well known former legislator with lobbying skills who apparently needs a job and is therefore running against him.

So, from my viewpoint, let us not change horses in mid-stream for little reason.
