David Madsen Candland

Born April 29, 1920, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Guy L. Candland and Sophrona Marie Candland, he served his country for five years. He graduated from Brigham Young University, where he earned a degree in agronomy. He married Deone Cole in 1957 and later solemnized their marriage in the Manti Temple.

Mr. Candland worked as a soil scientist for the Federal Soil Conservation Service division. His job took the family from Texas to Tonopah and then to Gardnerville, before they settled in Provo in 1985. He retired early due to blindness.

Mr. Candland was preceded in death by his parents, wife Deone, daughter Amy and sister Leslie.

He is survived by his Keith; grandson Joseph; brother Robert G. Candland and sister Miriam C. Larsen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at the LDS City Center Chapel 100 E. 200 S., Provo, Utah. The viewing will be held 10 a.m.,followed by funeral services. Internment will be held at the Provo City Cemetery.
