EDITOR:
I just received my annual property tax statement and noticed that I am paying $36 a year for "mosquito abatement."
Apparently this amount is not enough, as the path around the wonderful Jake's Wetlands at the entry to Winhaven is no longer safe for those hoping to avoid West Nile virus. Neither is a night time fill-up at the AM/PM station across the highway, the parking lot behind Tahoe Ridge Winery Bistro, or my backyard.
If you in this department need more money, or a volunteer to spray, I'm sure there are quite a few of us in the area who would help out in exchange for the privilege of enjoying our warm summer nights outdoors.
