The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for north central Alpine County and west central Douglas County in Western Nevada until 2 p.m.
At 1 p.m. Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail with damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
The storm was eight miles southwest of Minden Gardnerville moving north at 10 mph.
Thunder can be heard around the Valley.
