R-C Morning Report

Tax bills came out this week, and the Clerk-Treasurer's Office is getting the usual calls about the abatement. While assessed valuation went down in many places in the county, that doesn't mean people's actual tax bill went down too. For folks whose homes were built before 2003, they built up a lot of value that will have to be consumed before their taxes actually decrease as a result of lower assessment. For those with newer homes, there's less or no abatement. There's also a pretty hefty tax bill. For more information, go to http://cltr.co.douglas.nv.us/treasurer/default.asp

The East Fork Gallery is holding its 31st anniversary reception 4-8 p.m. today in The Record-Courier Center at 1503 Highway 395. I know we'll be over there helping them celebrate.

Relay for Life starts early Saturday in Lampe Park and goes on all day and night. The luminaria is at dusk.

It smelled like rain out early this morning, but there's not supposed to be any today. Expect sunny skies with a high near 93 and a light breeze in the afternoon. We're supposed to have a period of thunderstorms over the next few days, wrapping up on Monday night.
