High Desert Rockers meet July 27

Learn how to find meteorites, meet a prospector, and take geology field trips with the High Desert Rockers, a group of geologists to greenhorns, old timers to kids, who love the desert and hunt for gems and minerals.

The High Desert Rockers hold monthly meetings featuring guest speakers, plan activities and host special events and demonstrations. The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. July 27 at the new National Guard Armory, 2460 Fairview Drive, Carson City. Be prepared to show I.D. There is no cost to attend.

Guest speaker is gold prospector Clay Rogers, who gives a presentation on metal detecting for gold and meteorites.

There will be displays, a showcase sale and trade table, light snacks and treats, and drawings for door prizes by donation from Rocking and Rolling in Telegraph Square.
