Douglas students receive art association awards

The winners for the Carson Valley Art Association Scholarships for 2010 are Allison Henie and Kena Longabaugh, whose work was displayed at art association's fine art show during Carson Valley Days.

Henie received the $1,000 Elizabeth Johnson Scholarship. She received awards for excellence in visual arts and three Silver Key Awards from the Scholastic Art and Writing Association. Three of her pieces were featured at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. Henie will attend the University of Nevada, Reno, with plans to be a school psychologist and use art as therapy.

Longabaugh received the $1,000 CVAA Scholarship. Examples of her black and white photography were displayed at the fine art show. She will attend Western Washington University.
