Sexual assault suspects headed for district court

Two men accused of separate sex offenses involving underage girls waived preliminary hearings Wednesday and are to appear in district court.

Donald James Weber, 26, is set to appear before District Judge Michael Gibbons on July 26 on three felony charges stemming from the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.

Weber is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 14 and one charge of lewdness with a child under 14.

The alleged assaults took place between April 1, 2009, and Jan. 3.

Levi Wood-Duran, 23, is to appear July 27 before District Judge Dave Gamble accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl while giving her a tattoo May 30.

According to reports, Wood-Duran is not licensed to give tattoos and did not have permission from the victim's mother.

The girl's mother found out about the tattoo from a neighbor who alleged Wood-Duran had been tattooing other minors in a Gardnerville apartment complex.

Both men have been in Douglas County Jail since their arrests.
