Arts council presents two concerts this week

The Carson Valley Arts Council presents the Triada guitar trio, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the CVIC Hall in downtown Minden.

Triada is Bulgarian brothers Nikola, Petar and Vasil Chekardzhikov, who play traditional classics, modern favorites, and colorful ethnic music. The brothers formerly played in the Four of a Kind guitar quartet with their sister Petya. Concerts, TV and radio appearances in Bulgaria led to concert tours in Europe from 1994-96. Since coming to the United States, the trio performed in California, Wisconsin, Indiana, Colorado, Texas and Hawaii. Triada won first place in the annual Guitar Ensemble Competition in Brownsville, Texas, in 2004.

The arts council presents flutist Viviana Guzman and Argentinean classical guitarist Maxino Diego Pujol, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, at the ArtBar at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, 1572 Highway 395, Minden. Cost, $15, or $12 for Carson Valley Arts Council members.

Season tickets are on sale for the Carson Valley Arts Council's concert series beginning with Tillers Folly on Sept. 30 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The series continues with Brenn Hill on Oct. 29, Vishten on Jan. 15, Red Chamber on Feb. 25, Robert Mirabal on March 25, and Hot Club of CowTown on May 13.

Admission price for individual shows is $20, or $17 for CVAC members. Season tickets are $115, or $96 for CVAC members.
