Women set to plead to embezzlements

Defendants in two separate embezzlement cases waived their preliminary hearings Wednesday and are to enter pleas in Douglas County District Court.

Peggy Henderson, 46, is to plead guilty to one court of embezzlement at her district court appearance March 8.

In exchange for her guilty plea, 10 other charges are to be dismissed.

She is charged with the alleged embezzlement of $50,000 from Bob's Performance Center.

Her lawyer, Tod Young, said a restitution hearing would be held to determine how much money was missing.

According to reports, the money allegedly began to disappear shortly after Henderson was hired in April 2009 and ended with her firing from the company Jan. 22.

Sarah McKinnis, 34, also is to enter a plea to one court of embezzlement March 8 at her district court appearance.

McKinnis, the former manager of the Village Motel in Gardnerville, was charged with embezzling nearly $11,000 from her employer.

She lived at the motel and was accused of taking the money from Aug. 28-Nov. 11, 2009.

Both women are in custody in Douglas County Jail.

McKinnis is represented by lawyer Kris Brown.
