A memorial service is 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Walton's Funerals and Cremations for Minden resident Emma Marie Johanne Mucha, 89, who died Jan. 29, 2010, from complications of the severe stroke she recently suffered.
Born Aug. 1, 1920, in Celle, Germany to Karl and Johanne Schutt, she married Josef Mucha on Nov. 23, 1946.
Mrs. Mucha emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1953 with her husband and two young children. Her family settled in Daly City, Calif.
She worked as an assembler for Schlage Lock for many years and was a talented seamstress and cook. She and her husband moved to Minden in 1989 where they enjoyed their quiet neighborhood and gambling at the Carson Valley Inn.
Mrs. Mucha was an extremely proud German who worked hard until her death.
She is preceded in death by daughter Waltraut Newman, granddaughter Tabitha Mucha and best friend Elfriede Noske.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Josef Mucha; sons Gunther Mucha and Harry Newman; grandchildren George Katsaras, Heidi Martin, Ashley Mucha, Joey Mucha; and great-granddaughter, Hailey Martin.
