Bail set at $25,000 for child endangerment

Emergency personnel responding to an alleged suicide attempt Monday arrested a 33-year-old Johnson Lane man for child endangerment.

James Bruns was jailed on $25,000 bail after deputies and paramedics reported the residence was on Del Rio in deplorable condition.

The woman was taken to Carson City for a mental health evaluation.

According to reports, deputies found a loaded handgun underneath a pillow in the couple's master bedroom where they slept with their 2- and 3-year-old sons.

The report said the magazine was loaded, but the chamber was empty.

Deputies said the floors were dirty and an electric bug killer was plugged in across the top of the kitchen sink.

Dirty diapers were piled up on bathroom counters and prescribed medications were on a bedside table within the children's reach. Dirty dishes and clothing were strewn about the residence.

The children were placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

Bruns is to appear in East Fork Justice Court today.
