The Thriving Community hosts a workshop 1-3 p.m. Feb. 20 at Sierra Crest Academy in Minden.

January's workshop covered methods for winter gardening: using a greenhouse, winter sowing, and indoor gardening using materials found around the house.

Members of the Thriving Community have the opportunity to reach more people at workshops at Sierra Crest Academy. Leaders Gertie and Dianna Lightfeather and Sierra Crest staff integrate workshops into the school's curriculum. Students observe and water seedlings at the school, figure logistics and collect data on workshop projects.

People interested in being self-sufficient are invited to join the Thriving Community at the next workshop.

Workshops are the second-to-last Saturday of each month. Children welcome. A $5 donation requested to cover materials. Information, thrivingcommunity.com
