Musicians needed for Pops orchestra

Staff Reports

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor Elizabeth King, has begun rehearsals for the 2010 concert season. The nonprofit orchestra was formed in 1999 and is comprised of volunteer amateur and professional musicians of all ages.

The Carson Valley Pops performs for audiences in Minden at the CVIC Hall and Minden Park, Carson Valley Inn, and Heritage Park in Gardnerville. They've also performed at the Genoa Town Hall and the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center in Yerington.

Concerts for the 2010 season are scheduled in March, 4th of July, October, and December.

The orchestra welcomes all musicians, with string players especially needed. New and returning members are always welcome, and only informal auditions are conducted as needed. If you are interested and would like more information, contact conductor Elizabeth King at cvpops@hotmail.com, (530) 515-5492, or just attend a rehearsal at the Douglas High School band room 7-9 p.m. Monday.
