Melinda Mullins-Sarver killed in Sunday rollover

A Schurz woman was killed early Sunday morning when she was thrown from her vehicle on Highway 95A 20 miles south of Yerington.

The accident occurred at 2:43 a.m. when a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Melinda A. Mullins-Sarver drifted off the roadway. Mullins-Sarver overcorrected and caused the Civic to roll.

Neither she nor her passenger, 25-year-old Schurz resident Falon Laplant, were wearing seatbelts, according to NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. Both women were ejected from the vehicle.

Mullins-Sarver was killed in the accident. Laplant was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight where she is listed in critical condition this morning, according to Allen.
