The R-C Morning Report

A report of a strange device closed one lane of Highway 395 at Buckeye Thursday evening right around 5:20 p.m. The Nevada Department of Transportation apparently set up some sort of newfangled traffic light synchronization gadget that attracted the wrong sort of attention.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture active fire mapping Web site, national fire activity is light with only a dozen major fires, most of which are about to drop off the map. No major fires are burning in the western Great Basin or Northern California. The Wolf Creek fire is still burning, but that's what the Forest Service wants it to do, knock on wood.

The high temperatures forecast for next week on Thursday have dropped a bit and been replaced by thunderstorms. It's going to be nice over the weekend with highs in the lower 90s and sunny skies. Now it looks like the high will hit 99 before starting to drop back down again. No telling what's actually going to happen.
