Forest Service burning on east shore Sunday

LAKE TAHOE - U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews expect to conduct prescribed burns in Slaughterhouse Canyon on Lake Tahoe's East Shore beginning Sunday.

The project could continue throughout the week if favorable weather conditions persist. The Forest Service aims to complete 245 acres.

State and local fire management agencies may also be conducting prescribed fire work during this period.

Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from prescribed fire project areas.
