At least one fatality among score of motorcycle-related accidents

Motorcycles were involved in nearly a score of accidents over the weekend including one fatality in Douglas County.

Three people were injured on Sunday when the driver of a sedan pulled out in front of a westbound Harley Davidson Motorcycle at Glenbrook Road and Highway 50.

The motorcyclists hit the left side of the sedan throwing the rider and his passenger. Both sustained serious injuries, according to Trooper Chuck Allen of the Nevada Highway Patrol. The report came in at 1:07 p.m.

The motorcyclists were flown by Cal Star helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment.

The sedan's driver was pinned in his vehicle and had to be cut free. He was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital by Tahoe-Douglas ambulance.

One lane of Highway 50 in each direction was blocked until shortly after 4 p.m., according to Allen.

A woman died as a result of injuries sustained Friday when a black Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the concrete curb along Highway 50 just east of Spooner Summit, throwing them both from the motorcycle.

Both the rider and passenger of the motorcycle were from California and their identities are expected to be released today,

The accident was reported at 2:12 p.m. Both occupants were unconscious when help arrived.

They were both airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center for their injuries. The female passenger died from her injuries at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Allen said.

As of 4 p.m. Sunday, the NHP-Northern Command investigated 18 motorcycle-involved accidents.

This weekend was Street Vibrations in Reno, which drew an estimated 25,000 motorcycle enthusiasts to Northern Nevada.
