The menu for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 2 at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, 783-6455.

Monday. Pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw/pineapple salad, baked sweet potato, corn on cob, peach and blueberry crisp

Tuesday. Beef tamales, rice and black bean salad, refried beans, white cranberry juice, apple turnovers

Wednesday. Turkey tetrazzini, broccoli and cheese casserole, Caesar salad, biscuit, fruit cup

Thursday. Chicken fried steak, beet salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, asparagus, sherbet

Friday. Vegetable lasagna, romaine, bacon and Swiss cheese, apricots, French bread, peanut butter cookies.


Fleece wanted for gifts

Donations of fleece are needed to create lap robes to add to gift bags for seniors. Young at Heart teams with the Douglas County Senior Center and the community to prepare and deliver gift bags to homebound seniors in Douglas County and this year's plan is to add 150 fleece lap robes to the bags.

Donations accepted 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the senior center.


Yarn needed

The Douglas County Senior Center's Knitting Group is looking for donations of yarn to create lap blankets for homebound seniors and senior retirement homes in the Carson Valley. Donations accepted 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the senior center. Information, 783-6455.
