Gerald Gene 'Pat' Patton

Former Gardnerville resident Gerald Gene 'Pat' Patton died Sept. 8, 2009.

Born Oct. 21, 1922, in Neosho, Mo., to Anna Bartelmie and Herman Patton, he was the middle son of five boys.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and received the Philippine Liberation Medal and two bronze stars before being discharged in 1946.

Mr. Patton moved to California, where he married his first wife.

He worked as a manager of manufacturing at ASTECH from 1959 to 1989.

He met his wife of 24 years, Diane Vaughn Moore Baker Patton, while working at ASTECH.

The couple was re-baptized together on Aug. 26, 2000, and recommited themselves to one another on Feb. 14, 2001.

The couple moved to Gardnerville in August 2002.

He loved playing golf, watching the Lakers and UCLA's basketball and football teams, and reading Westerns and mysteries.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Eugene, who died in 2004.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Patricia Ann; stepsons Dan, Darren and Devin Baker; a grandson; and seven stepgrandchildren.
