BLM puts Southern Nevada land up for sale

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to sell approximately 35 acres of public land in 14 parcels in Clark County.

The Notice of Realty Action for a land sale under the authority of the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act was published in the September 11 Federal Register.

The notice advertises the competitive online auction, conducted by U.S. General Services Administration, which will be begin on Nov. 18 and remain open for sale for a period of 45 days in accordance with competitive sale procedures. Bidders may register on the GSA Web site at www.auctionrp.com/.

The funds generated by this sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the funding for the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land and Lake Tahoe restoration projects.

Additionally, five percent of the revenue goes to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.

The 45-day public comment period will begin Sept. 11 and end Oct. 26. Written comments must be addressed to the Southern Nevada District Field Manager, Bureau of Land Management, Las Vegas Field Office, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada 89130. No facsimiles, e-mails, or telephone calls will be considered as validly submitted comments. Comments will be made available to the public; therefore, personal identifying information such as addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses may be withheld.
