Nevada casinos take in $873M win revenue in July

CARSON CITY, Nev. - Nevada gambling regulators say the state's casinos won less than $873 million in July, the first month of the new fiscal year.

That's about 12.5 percent less than casinos made in July 2008, when they took in $997 million.

July marked the 19th straight month of year-over-year revenue declines for the state's casinos.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board says it collected $57.3 million in percentage fees in August based on taxable revenues generated in July. That's nearly $957,000, or 1.6 percent, less than collections from the same month one year ago.

Clark County casinos won $729.9 million, nearly 11 percent less than July last year. The Las Vegas Strip was down 11 percent year over year.

Revenue for Washoe County casinos declined 19.5 percent.
