Reid ads ludicrous

EDITOR:

I was appalled to hear Mr. Reid's latest attempt at a political advertisement on the radio today. One part states that "Sen. Reid is above the partisan fray in Washington trying to hammer out a bipartisan bill for Universal Healthcare" among other things.

Does Reid and whoever wrote this disingenuous message actually expect any Nevada voter, be they Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent or other, to swallow this malarkey? It reminds me of the billboards during the last election, "Harry Reid, Independent, Just Like Nevada." It was worth a good laugh then and his latest would be equally funny if it weren't such a flagrant untruth. Mr. Reid voted with his party 94.8 percent of the time, not counting times he didn't vote.

Hardly bipartisan in my opinion, when 27 of his Democratic peers reached across the aisle more often than he did. In way of comparison, John Ensign voted along party lines 89.2 percent of the time during the same period. Remember, this is the man who, when President Bush was trying to raise awareness of the problems with Social Security, went national with "there is no problem with Social Security." I wonder how much longer the NEA will be backing the Democrats when they realize that they will lose their health care, which was a major issue during contract negotiations, and be forced into the socialized medicine of Obamacare.

I, for one, don't want some government bureaucrat determining the level of my care, especially when, for 30 years I paid for the health insurance I now have, as a retiree.
